The Custom Wig Company combines the experiences and talents of a four person team to produce the best quality hair goods.

OUR HISTORY

In 2007, Custom Wig Company owner Heather Fleming was working as a Wig Designer at a major regional theatre. She regularly found herself receiving requests for custom-made wigs and facial hair from members of the reenactment community as well as interpreters, impersonators and eventually, Santas.

As this demand grew, it seemed to become it’s own entity and the Custom Wig Company was officially born in 2010. The company’s mission was to provide high quality wigs, beards, toupees and hairpieces to individuals and companies who’s hair needs could not be met with off-the rack, machine-made wigs.

What began as a one-person operation in a spare bedroom has grown into a company of four wig construction specialists located in the historic Butchertown neighbhorhood of Louisville, KY.  We are so pleased to be able to deliver the very best hair goods to our neighbors down the street as well as rock stars in Sweden and Santas in Texas.

OUR PROCESS

The Custom Wig Company brings together a talented and experienced team of wig artisans. Our process is detailed and thorough, from initial consultation to the final brushing . We take pains to build a piece for you that fits like a glove and looks even better than you imagined.

When you commission a project from the Custom Wig Company, we’ll ask you to provide us with detailed information about your desired piece, including the colors, texture, length, style – when applicable, we request any research materials or inspirational materials that will help us realize your project.

Once we have a clear image of your piece, we will draw up a Project Agreement which will include an estimated delivery date and expected cost. In order to begin your project, we’ll need to have the signed Project Agreement, research photos, photos of you, and a 50% deposit. We’ll also need your head or chin wrap – this is the MOST important part of your custom wig process! The wrap, which is a simple process you can complete and mail to us, is a plastic tracing of your head or face which will allow us to build a piece that fits you perfectly!

Please be aware that top-quality hair goods take time to create – your project will generally take a minimum of four to six weeks. During the Halloween and Christmas seasons demand is very high, so we recommend scheduling your project early to ensure your project is completed in a timely manner.
